Lunar Atlas

The database currently contains over 550 near side lunar features, about half with images. Pick a feature category from the dropdown, then select a feature. If an image is associated then tap on it to magnify. Category names are listed in Latin language. The images are taken with a Celestron C8 telescope and an ASI290MM camera with an IR640nm filter.

Another means of searching: tap and hold on the globe and move an area of interest underneath the cross hairs. Then release and pick a feature from a dropdown list. The search radius is 5Β° around the center of the cross hairs. Use the + and - icons to zoom in and out. Long tap to increase the interval. [ Min and Max ] Zoom jump to the widest or to the closest view

The lunar surface texture used for the globe is 8192 x 4096 pixels large and may take a few seconds to load depending on the speed and graphic capability of your device. The images are 800 x 600 pixels in JPEG format. They are bundled with the installer APK and will later be made available via in-app download to keep the installer file small.

The location of a selected feature is also plotted on a lunar nearside map icon.
