Camera Simulator

It is all a matter about a telescopeโ€™s focal length, sensor size and sensor pixel size. The database contains over 30 sensors from which to choose. The focal length must be entered manually. Upon selection of a sensor this module will display the sensorโ€™s dimensions and calculate...

  • Field of view (FOV)
  • Pixel scale
  • Linear resolution
...for a given focal length

While the calculated FOV is real, image scale and linear resolution are theoretical values assuming excellent seeing. The size of the Moon for the FOV is its present angular apparent size. Linear resolution is given for the lunar surface at present center distance to the Earth. The last selection is saved.

Tap and move to move the lunar image in its field of view.

For fairness the database does not list the names of planetary camera manufacturers, such as ZWO, QHY, Player One or Svbony, but sensor part numbers only. This does not apply to DSLR cameras. The list may grow by time.
